Sustainability is now and has always been at the heart of what we do here at Round Pond Estate.
We want to make sure that every step of the process—from grape to bottle—is as sustainable as possible. That’s why we’re constantly working on new ways to be conscious of how we utilize our resources. We’re currently working towards becoming a Napa Green certified Winery on top of our already certified Napa Green Vineyards.
How we keep it green…
Pest Control
We are limiting the use of fungicides, pesticides, and herbicides. Instead, we have added bird boxes around the Estate to manage pests naturally.
Energy Consumption
A small step can make a huge difference. By upgrading our light fixtures to LED energy-efficient bulbs, we reduced our kilowatt-hours from 21 to 18!
Water Usage
During our fermentation process, we sanitize our tanks multiple times a day – using a lot of water. By implementing an automated pump-over system, each tank will have its own closed system, that will only need to be sanitized every few weeks. This reduced our total water usage by 8%!
Glass Reduction
By reducing our glass weight by 25% we are working toward more sustainable packaging. This will reduce our carbon footprint overall during the shipping and production process.
We can’t forget the sheep! They help manage cover crops naturally, meaning no pesticides and no tractors. Plus, their droppings make for great fertilizer!
